At Oh My Pleasure we take a sex positive approach to working with out of control sexual behavior (aka sex addiction). Rather than using an abstinence-based addiction framework, we use a sexual health model focused on helping you create your own definition of healthy sexuality and work towards living that definition in your daily life. Our approach is accepting, non-shaming, sex-positive and strengths-based. The focus is on helping you understand the underlying causes of undesirable behavior so the changes we help you create are sustainable.  We use evidence based treatment approaches that include a thorough assessment process to understand all the contributing factors, followed by an intentional blend of positive psychology, cognitive therapies, motivational interviewing, and trauma therapy as needed. Each treatment plan is tailored to suit the unique needs of thinking and feeling people struggling to manage out of control behaviors.

Sex should never be painful or uncomfortable, but for many people, it is. Often the first step is seeing a doctor, but unfortunately most medical providers are not adequately trained to assess, diagnose, and treat sexual difficulties, even if those difficulties arise as side-effects of the physician’s treatment process. At Oh My Pleasure we work with all areas of sexual dysfunction and difficulty, including challenges such as unpredictable erections, premature or delayed ejaculation, and pelvic floor dysfunction of various kinds. We work with pelvic pain of all kinds, and with complex medical diagnoses such as PCOS, Endometriosis, Vaginismus, and the sexual impacts of cancer treatment and other medical issues. We work to create an integrated treatment team approach, coordinating with medical providers, pelvic floor physical therapists, and other specialists to ensure that all aspects of your care are being addressed effectively. We are comfortable acting as advocates and supports in challenging medical systems, while also helping you process the grief, anxiety, and trauma that can come from medical difficulties. We work with individuals, couples, and partners who need help navigating the challenges associated with painful, uncomfortable, or unpredictable sex. If you have painful or dissatisfying sex and do not have a medical diagnosis, we can also assist in evaluating your symptoms and referring you to the appropriate, sex-positive medical providers to get an accurate assessment and treatment for whatever is ailing you.

Many couples struggle with infidelity or attachment injuries of various kinds, and often couples therapy and individual therapy can help navigate through the choppy waters of infidelity processing and repair. At Oh My Pleasure, we work with betrayed partners as well as partners who have broken relationship agreements, and can work with you individually or as a couple. We understand that there are many complex emotions connected with infidelity on all sides and we are here to help you sort through those feelings and determine what remains of your pleasure, desire, and relationship. We do not default to repairing the relationship, but help you determine what you want from the relationship moving forward, and how to achieve it. We have guided many couples through repair or through mindful separation processes to help regroup and make decisions, and we also help when you don’t even know what you want right now. We also work with couples who have non-traditional relationship structures and need support in general communication or more foundational needs, but also want a therapist who understands their lifestyle choices. We believe in meeting you wherever your relationship is, and providing guidance to help you find the dynamic that works best for everyone involved. The most common reason couples seek sex therapy is due to differences in sexual desire. At Oh My Pleasure we work with couples of all backgrounds and orientations to help navigate these desire differences and find a common ground. Desire differences can occur for many reasons including communication and connection issues, overwhelm from parenting or life stressors, hormonal differences, or sexual pain or dysfunction. If you are struggling in your relationship with different levels of sexual desire that are creating conflict, we are happy to help you find ways to communicate more effectively and relocate a sex life that works for both of you. Desire exists on a spectrum, some people are lower and some people are higher, and our goal is to help you meet in the middle.
